PLATFORM I THE NON-TRADITIONAL ENTREPRENEUR
To build a strong foundation for women in business, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will create Economic expertise, Success in business, and Power networking opportunities for the Non-Traditional Entrepreneur.
Alpha Tau Omega Chapter Implementation
The Non-Traditional Entrepreneur Committee
* Identifies chapter members who are established women entrepreneurs and chapter members who are interested in becoming entrepreneurs by administering a pre-assessment survey
* Facilitates the National Program Committee’s “Calling All Entrepreneurs” and the development of a national resource guide.
* Collaborates with area chambers of commerce and Bexar County Small-Minority-Women Business Enterprise Programs
* Participates in Black Business Expos and hosts business seminars to discuss ideas and issues regarding women-owned businesses
* Mentors new and aspiring entrepreneurs by pairing them with experienced and successful entrepreneurs
PLATFORM II THE ECONOMIC KEYS TO SUCCESS
To set the stage for competing in the world market and improving the living standards in the Black community, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will launch an Economic Literacy Campaign. To achieve these goals the sorority, through Education, Synergy, and Partnerships will develop and disseminate The Economic Keys to Success.
Alpha Tau Omega Chapter Implementation
* Each month, chapter meetings begin with AKA-nomics- a short presentation which focuses on an identified core economic issue.
* The Economic Literacy Assessment Quiz will be administered to access the current economic literacy of sorors and the increase in their literacy at the end of the year.
* Reading for Economic Success
Sorors from the Reading committee tutor children in kindergarten through eighth grade every second Saturday of the month from September through May from 10am-12 noon at the Eastside Boys and Girls Club. Reading enrichment activities focus on economic success in various career fields.
PLATFORM III THE ECONOMIC GROWTH OF THE BLACK FAMILY
The strength of the Black Community hinges on the viability of the Black family. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. must provide a framework that will enable, support and provide access for the economic growth of the Black family. Moreover, the Sorority must take an aggressive role in sustaining the Black Family, particularly our Black males.
Alpha Tau Omega Chapter Implementation
The Black Family Committee
* Adopted ten (10) Black families with at least one Black male per family. Topics to be address include leadership, community service, education, economic keys, social skills, job intervention, and life skills.
* Implemented the First Responder Service Program. The goal of this program is to prepare young African-American men to be first responders in case of disasters in our community. Young men between the ages of 14-19 who complete the program will graduate with a basic understanding of disasters, know how to prepare for disasters, be able to apply disaster training to their home, school and community; be proficient in CPR, and be able to identify and utilize Resource Units. Participants who successfully complete the program will be awarded certifications in CPR, First –Aid, Emergency Management. Partners for this program include San Antonio Office of Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Coalition of 100 Black Men, Boys’ and Girls’ Club, and The Mental Health Consortium.
PLATFORM V HEALTH RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND ECONOMICS
By designing and implementing projects that address emotional empowerment, social support and public awareness, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will address the many mental and physical health issues and crises that face the Black Community in the United States.

The Health Committee
* Engages the chapter in “Enthusiastically Shedding Pounds”- the Sorority’s national focus on weight loss and walking program
* Writes a short health tip in the monthly chapter newsletter “Along the ATO Ivy Vine”
* Recognizes monthly health awareness months, including American Heart Association, Mental Health month, National Sickle Cell Month, and American diabetes Month.
* Recognizes sorors who are cancer survivors and coordinates chapter participation in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Mahogany Brain Challenge
An African American History Challenge Competition
Mahogany Brain Challenge (MBC) is an African American History competition that allows youth to learn about the many historical contributions that were made by African Americans despite the struggles they encountered. The African American experience is a rich heritage filled with many inventions. Alpha Tau Omega Chapter sponsors this annual program in February. San Antonio youth form teams and represent churches, civic organizations, and school academies in a competition that energizes Black History Month.
Alpha Tau Omega Scholarships
Alpha Tau Omega annually awards $10,000 in scholarships to college bound seniors and students eligible for renewals. Scholarship applications are mailed to the eight major school districts in the San Antonio Area in the month of March.
Praise Dance Celebration
An official Fiesta San Antonio Commission event, the Praise Dance Celebration brings together church groups of all denominations and ethnicities as the community worships and praises God through dance.
Poise –N- Ivy
The Poise-N-Ivy program mentors young high school women in developing characteristics and skills needed to succeed in the 21st century.

The Alpha Tau Omega Educational Fund, Inc.
The purpose of the ATO Educational Fund, Inc. is to identify and support worthwhile community activities by making contributions to organizations and projects whose goals and objectives are characterized as charitable, religious, scientific, literary, or educational.
Roseville Housing Trust
The Roseville Housing Trust owns and operates The Roseville Apartment Complex. Roseville has 88 apartment units available to eligible senior citizens. The day-to day operations are managed by an on-site property manager, a senior services coordinator, and maintenance technicians. In addition to housing, residents are supported with nutritional programs, agency referral services, health education, and activities and opportunities for social interactions
ATO Senior Opportunity Services of Texas, Inc.
The purpose of ATO-SOS is to study the needs of seniors, identify opportunities and mobilize resources within the community to assist in satisfying these needs. Moreover, ATO-SOS plans and promotes projects and services which will enhance the quality of physical, emotional, and social well-being of senior residents.
