For 80 years, Alpha Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has provided outstanding community service projects in and around San Antonio, Texas. The crown jewel of our efforts is the Roseville Apartments. Built in the 1970’s, Roseville has provided safe, comfortable and affordable housing to senior citizens for over 30 years.
In addition to Roseville, Alpha Tau Omega has fully implemented the Sorority’s Extraordinary Service Program. The chapter’s “1st Responders: Cohorts for Life” program has won awards at the South Central Regional Conference for the past two years and trains teenage boys to become community emergency responders. In addition, these young men receive mentoring through our partnerships with other organizations, and they are exposed to a variety of future employment opportunities in the area of emergency management and services.
Our chapter is also the proud sponsor of the Mahogany Brain Challenge © (a black history competition), Poise N’ Ivy (a leadership program for high school age girls) and the Fiesta Praise Dance Celebration (sponsored by our Arts Committee). In addition, one of our two nonprofit corporations, Alpha Tau Omega-Senior Opportunity Services, Inc., provides support services and recreation for the residents of the Roseville Apartments.
If you are an Alpha Kappa Alpha member living in San Antonio and looking for a chapter, we are here to Welcome You Home. We have over 25 committees with a variety of opportunities to serve. There are also plenty of smiles and laughter to share. Please come to a chapter meeting. The dates and times are listed below. Meetings are generally held in Founders’ Hall, the Activity Center of the Roseville Apartments, 4139 East Houston Street, San Antonio, Texas 78220. Please contact our Membership Chair if you have questions about reactivation or transferring membership
Thank you again for visiting our web site, and we hope to see you at a meeting or at an upcoming event.
